Fat Sheep
2 minute read
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James 1:22
This is not about works vs grace. My challenge to you is: if you are in a church that teaches well, don’t become a ‘fat sheep’. In other words do something with all the knowledge you are acquiring. A fat sheep is a complacent sheep. I’m sure we know people who love learning, love studying, love to be seen as having all the answers. But we rarely see any outworking of this knowledge in how they serve the Lord in the church and beyond.
How has the Holy Spirit enabled you to be a doer of the wonderful teachings of our Lord? Stuck for ideas? What about leading a women’s Bible study; reading the Bible with another lady and discussing it together; evangelising in your area; praying with fellow ladies in the church; teaching your children at home – not just leaving them to only be taught at church…
I’m sure there are many more ideas. Don’t leave everything to your Pastor/Elders or a select few in your church. The Holy Spirit has gifted every believer with good and spiritual gifts. He wants you to use them for God’s glory and the benefit of the church.
Fat sheep get in the way. Instead get active in serving Him who has saved you!
